Feelings and Book Recommendations | Living Imperfectly Perfect
Feelings are the most underrated things on the planet, everyone has feelings but no one seems to talk about them.
Hello beautiful souls,
Welcome to a sunny Monday morning here in the UK!
Thank you to all those who showed up to my Instagram LIVE this morning, it was amazing to see so many of you taking control of your week and putting out there how you would like your week to be. Taking the time to do this can be helpful for your week and can also help you decide what you want to do with your week.
The last week brought with it, lots of learning opportunities and a new Facebook group which I’ve set up to coach all of you beautiful souls who have been through trauma and aren’t sure which direction you want your life to take right now. I will leave a link to all of my socials at the bottom of this article, so if you aren’t following me on Facebook or Instagram yet, you can find all those links below.
This week we’re discussing feelings and there’s a link for a powerful book, which if you purchase using the link you will be benefiting your local independent bookshop!
Feelings Are Underrated
Feelings have become underrated, yet they are one of the few things everyone has and they can tell us so much about ourselves, it’s just how we choose to use them that matters.
Feelings after trauma very often become scrambled, especially when it comes to trust and questioning if you’re doing the right thing everyday. I remember in the times after the trauma waiting for the court case and feeling like I didn’t belong anywhere, as I didn’t have anyone to talk to, largely because I was silenced and told not to speak out, not even to my teachers or a grief councillor.
This I’ve learnt since, wasn’t right, it taught me to undervalue my feelings and more importantly it taught me not to voice my feelings or rely on my opinions because they weren’t listened to either. The result of all this, I became solitary, used to my own company, wary of opening up, even to those people around me who needed me to open up.
It wasn’t until I picked up a journal for the first time, when I was away from home that I realised how valuable opening up about my thoughts and what was going on could be. Not only did I start journaling regularly, I started reading through my journal and valuing what I actually wrote in it for a change.
However, the journal I kept from that time, it’s been the only journal that I ripped the pages out of and tore them up, because back then I believed those memories to be hurtful and harmful to my recovery. But, looking back if I could’ve I would have said to myself how valuable those pages would have been for me, especially having to talk about the abuse during therapy and even during times now where I would like to be able to read how I was feeling back then.
So, if you take one thing from this today. Value your feelings and don’t take them for granted, respect how you feel and other people will respect how you feel too!
Here’s Some Techniques To Respect Your Feelings
Journal- But more than that, read through your past entries
Talk To Your Support Circle- Let the people around you know how you feel, because they will want to know the real you
Respect Yourself- Choose what you share with people, the people you share things with depends on how you feel, not how they want you to feel

-Women Slogans
You NEED To READ This!
If you love being inspired by strong Women telling their TRUTH then you will love this ‘She Said’, which tells the story behind the #metoo movement in America, where women told their stories about abuse in the workplace.
The journalists who reported on their stories faced all kinds of challenges along the way, who overcame all the odds stacked against them to write one of the most hard-hitting articles of our time, which changed the world.
This book and the accompanying movie have left a long-lasting impression on me, as it shows the true value of speaking out instead of choosing to stay silent.

Monday Journal Time
Journaling is one of the most valuable things we can do with our time, to learn about how to accept and use our feelings in our favour instead of against us. Which is why I have included four journaling prompts to help guide you throughout your week and hopefully to make you smile just a little.
As always use as many or as few of these prompts as you like, as there is no right or wrong way to do anything when it comes to journaling.
What’s one strong positive memory you have?
Which part of your personality do you value the most?
What can you learn from your past?
If you could go anywhere or do anything, where would you go and what would you do?
Remember this is your time to write whatever you want to write, without any judgement.
Phase It!
The current moon phase for this week is: Waxing gibbous in Scorpio
How to use this week’s moon phase to feel amazing: With the moon in scorpio this week, you value your feelings more that usual and you could become curious about why you feel certain things at certain times.
This week is a good week to work on your journaling to make it a solid routine and work on yourself at a deeper level, this not only gives you more power, but it will also help you to see your emotions in a different way.
